This is an entry for round 2 of the GDKO 2025. The theme was "Storytelling" and additionally two requirements:

  • Include a non player character (I included the snakes)
  • Include projectiles (I included shooting)

 I plan to continue expanding this game for the next rounds of GDKO.

Controls:

  • Move = ⬆️⬇️➡️⬅️  or WASD
  • Open/Close Manual = M
  • Restart = R
  • Transform = 1/2/3/ ...

Please ask any questions in the chat and I will try to provide hints, I designed the game to be mysterious and to be difficult

The game is finished once you collected all the 12 pages I did not have time to make a proper game end screen.

I am somehow hit some invisible blocks. I believe its ghost snake.

found a glitch while trying to get back to the tutorial room. Not sure what's happening.

Oh no, this is a bug, thanks for reporting!
I'll try to find why this is happening.

In the meantime you can press [R] to restart and return to the last checkpoint

This game is incredible! It improves on the original in almost every way, though I still wish it had a more traditional ending screen.

I really have to start working on adding more traditional ending screens, I did not learn from my past mistakes 😅

Any hints on the translation? I don't know where to start.

This game was made for a game jam in two weeks. I did not have time to make an actual language, the texts consists of a bunch of random symbols I drew.

Great game, got the real ending and all 12 pages. You really have something special here. Would love to play the full game if you ever end up making it.

Thanks a lot! I think I will make the full game eventually. Still figuring some things out, do you think I should keep the manual or should I drop it and focus more on the metroidvania type gameplay?

great game but after unlocking shape 4 you can just dig the hole here and skip the rest of the puzzles

This is the shape I used during development to quickly iterate over making the puzzles.

yeah, that breakable hole was way too suspicious for me to not check it out XD

amazing easter egg tho and also you did a great job at teaching the mechanics of the game

Great game. Good dificulty (could be a tiny bit harder). Reminds me of Speleomorph by hcs64, but it does not have shooting and has one different mechanics.

Found the sixth shape and 12 pages, but the manual still says missing pages after 12. Is there more or can i rest? :)
